WE typically experience Installations that are performed by people that users might have consider "Good enough to do the job for them," or "some who is a Network Administrator of a large Company" install their software. However, while they may perform great at their jobs, if they haven't been trained by the makers of the packages they will most often be in the dark about the little things that might make an installation problematic. This extends to and including making the client "think" he has lost his data, which might cause the customer to incur unnecessary high expense with what the client needs sitting somewhere on his hard drive. Long gone are the days which were ruled by "a:\install!"

Often business managers are daily focusing on managing their business and the various components thereof, which includes the constant changing of hats. However, information technology has a hat that is altered everyday by minute portions so that at the end of the day a seemingly insignificant change could be the beginning of a disaster.

There are some managers that think the best solution to these problematic installations is to purchase a new package or a new system!  Often, the existing system has more power than the users are aware of and with a bit of manipulation can save weeks, months or years of hard earned data.
